Welcome to the Jackson County SPOKES (Strategic Planning in Occupational Knowledge for Employment and Success) website.
SPOKES is a ten-week career development program primarily for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients. Students are typically referred by DHHR (Department of Health and Human Resources). The goal of SPOKES is to teach participants the skills and attitudes needed in order to obtain and retain employment, with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency. SPOKES will also help students on the path to earning a West Virginia High School Equivalency Diploma or entering post-secondary education. Students are to consider the SPOKES classroom like a workplace. They are expected to behave professionally, be punctual and attend class on a regular basis. |
Jackson County SPOKES is located at the Jackson County WorkForce West Virginia OneStop Center in Ripley, WV. The SPOKES and Jackson County Adult Ed programs are located to the right as you enter the building. Orientation is held on Mondays, beginning at 8:30 A.M. Students must be referred by a partner agency prior to the beginning of orientation.
